This site could be used in many different ways: as a humor site, a health site, a death-themed portal, etc. Here are some ideas:
- A HotOrNot.com parody, with photos of celebs who may or may not be alive. Users guess whether they're alive or not, see what other people guessed, etc. (A custom engine is available to power "Am I X or Not" systems for $20, so this could be pretty easy to do.)
- A list of the top 10 warning signs to suggest you might be dead.
- A calculator that tells you the percent chance you'll be dead in 10, 20, 30... years. (Once you get to be my age, the percents are higher than you might think...)
- A DeadOrNot e-mail service. This is ideal for people who live alone -- if something happened to you, weeks might go by before someone realized you were dead. Who would feed your cat? Would your cat eat your face? Anyway, the way this works is you receive one piece of e-mail each day or two; if you're still alive, you simply hit Reply. Otherwise, we'll notify your designated contacts so they can check up on you. The e-mails could also include daily life-affirming quotations and links to buy the books they came from.
We would also consider a revenue-sharing arrangement or partnership if someone were interested in developing the site but not purchasing it.
